Activist: Police had a list of people who needed to be arrested today,

Activist Ilir Xhemalaj declared that it was the police that caused today's clashes at the protest in front of the Parliament.

"The clashes were caused by the police. The protesters were caught sitting. The police had a list of people who needed to be arrested and carried out all their maneuvers to arrest these people. There are somewhere over 23 people arrested.

"A few of them have already been released. The others are expected to be released, they are in different police stations in Tirana, but mainly in Police Station number 3. They are being assisted by our lawyers and I believe they will be released very soon because they were caught without committing any act of violence," the activist told A2.

When asked whether we are close or far from creating another party, Ilir Xhemalaj replied:

"We are light years away. There is no such thought. There is no such thought about creating a political party. This is a big square. I speak as part of the organizing group and there is nothing in ours. On the contrary, it is a thought that has been massively sidelined. There is no such thought.

"What comes out or what the square produces here, there are thousands of people, normally everyone has their own opinion. But, we as organizing groups do not think about this part at all. We simply want Rama to resign and we to return to our lives, to be able to take the children to the beach again, to continue life normally as before," he said.

According to him, Prime Minister Edi Rama will have a bitter end.

"We only want the removal of the government, the overthrow of the system, and the removal of Edi Rama and Sali Berisha."

I see the end as very bitter for the prime minister. Citizens will be free to organize after the fall of this prime minister, they will be free to finally focus on the institutions of the Albanian state.

"Professors from all over the world's universities are coming here to protest, young people who have left, who want to give for their country, young people who have been forcibly removed from this political system. There has been a great depopulation of Albania and they just want to return to their country and give their energies to their country," the activist emphasized.
