Four Albanians have been jailed in Britain after a police operation revealed drugs worth 10 million pounds.
Manchester Police were informed of an Albanian national believed to be in control of a greenhouse in the large-scale production of cannabis across Greater Manchester and as a result undertook a proactive undercover investigation between May and November 2023.
This time, the British police team delved into the investigation to discover the "heads" of this illegal industry, and not just to catch the cannabis cultivation workers.
They followed the trail of four Albanians, who were sentenced this month by the court to prison and will be waiting to enter Albania, after the end of the sentence.
Names and sentences:
Riza Hodaj , 39, of Beech Mount, Harpurhey – Seven years in prison
Iriljan Hodaj , 32, of Lakeland Crescent, Bury – Four years in prison
Henri Shperdhea , 35, of Denton Lane, Chadderton – Two years and three months in prison
Armando Xhemalaj , 32 years old, living in Barracks Road, Bickershaë - Two years and three months in prison
The court has also ordered the seizure of their assets worth about 90 thousand pounds.
During this action of the British police, the large network of cultivation and sale of cannabis, which is estimated to be worth around 10 million pounds, was destroyed.
Results of the police action in 2023:
52 pre-planned control orders were carried out
16 more proactive home checks
73 people arrested
31 people accused and detained
46 Albanian citizens arrested
Over 13,000 cannabis plants were found
The total estimated value of the drugs is £10,903,200
