88 vehicles were reported stolen across the country between January and September 2024.

Of the reported cases, only 47 of them were discovered by the police, where the perpetrators were persons with a previous criminal record.

Shkodra and Tirana are the two most problematic regions, where more vehicle thefts were registered, 17 and 16 cases, respectively. After them comes Durrës with 14 cases.

The Range Rover turns out to be the most preferred vehicle for thieves or car theft groups.

The most preferred areas where vehicles are stolen are those where there is a lack of lighting and security cameras, but there are cases when the theft is carried out in well-surveilled areas or neighborhoods.

As a result of police investigations, some of these cars are dismantled and sold for parts, while the rest are used in criminal events.

Similar cases were the vehicles used in the mafia murders registered in Shkodër and Tirana in recent months.

Although compared to a year ago, the number of stolen cars has decreased by 19 cases, for the police this phenomenon remains worrying as long as the trend of their use by criminal groups continues to grow.
