At least five people have been killed and around 12 others injured after a shooting in central Krakow, Poland, on Saturday afternoon, November 7.

According to Polish police, the incident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. local time, in the main market square, one of the city's most popular public spaces.

Authorities say a man drove into the square and began shooting randomly at people from inside the car.

Five people were killed in the shooting, while police officers are reported to be among the injured.

The suspected perpetrator was shot by law enforcement during the intervention and transported to the hospital. His condition is not yet known.
