"Meetings" with Inter football players, such as Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolò Barella and Juan Cuadrado, now a former member of the black team. These are some of the details of the file of the ultras scandal in Italy, about which the leader of "Curva Nord", Marco Ferdico, who has been in prison since yesterday, talks about the interceptions of the Financial Police.
"In fact", writes the Prosecutor's Office, in a conversation on May 26, 2023 with the legendary former defender of Inter, Marco Materazzi, Ferdico says "that he met Calhanoglu and Barella, to talk about the critical issues that arose from the ticket affair the final of the Champions League" and he "would learn the Turkish footballer's complaints about the behavior of the club".
In the chapter of the investigation called "relations with FC Internazionale" - cases of alleged pressure on several Inter managers, but also on coach Simone Inzaghi and on former Inter player Milan Skriniar, are reported.
"Calhanoglu", they write, "according to the statements of Ferdico, spent an evening in August 2023 having dinner with his family, together with the capotifosi Antonio Bellocco", heir to a gang that is part of the 'Ndrangheta with him the same name. Part of the dinner was the family of Ferdico and also of Andrea Beretta, another Capoultras of Inter, killed by the latter less than a month ago.
On August 19, 2023, a conversation of Ferdico was intercepted, who, addressing an unidentified person, says: "Now we go out to eat on Monday or Tuesday with Calhanoglu, with the families!". In some circumstances, we read further, "as it turned out from other conversations, it was understood that Ferdico met with the Turkish footballer and received as a gift the official jerseys which were then given to Bellocco". Furthermore, on August 22, 2023, the ultras boss "informed Belloço of a meeting with Calhanoglu and Inter's Colombian footballer Cuadrado," which "was to be finalized on August 24."
Then another phone call with Materazzi comes to light where he talks about meetings with the Turkish footballer and Barella regarding the issue of tickets that "Curva Nord" asked the club for the Istanbul final, where the leaders of the ultras received 1,500 tickets, as much as they requested.
Thus, Materazzi, not under investigation, prosecutors wrote, is "a man who is still believed to be very close to the Inter club and at the same time connected to exponents of Curva Nord".
Furthermore, "the former footballer's closeness to the board is also evidenced by his presence at the Inter supporter's meeting on September 14, 2023, on which the beer marketed by Materazzi was advertised and the promise (documented during a wiretapping) of Ferdico and Beretta to undertake to ensure that, in the future, the exclusive sale of this drink takes place in the possible stadium of Inter".
