The Albanian national team managed to record two wins in Euro 2024 qualifiers in June, beating Moldova 2-0 at home, and then triumphed in the away transfer of the Faroe Islands after that 3-1 success.
Six points that rank Albania in the second place of Group E, only one point away from the leader where the Czech Republic is currently and fully in the race to qualify for the finals of the biggest European competition.
According to the coach of the National Team, Silvinjo, this is the fruit of more than four months of work, which was done by the technical staff and the team to prepare the official challenges as best as possible, while confirming that he already knows the players better.
"We can talk better about four months of work, but also about the first match against Poland. Then it becomes, not just easier, but whenever we get together with the players in the training camp for 7 or 10 days, it becomes easier to work with them because they already know practically our football concepts and ideas. At the same time, we, as a technical staff, know the players better", says the coach of the Reds and Blacks in an interview given to Fshf.org, as he evaluates Albania's performance in the last two matches and emphasizes that the victories are fully deserved.
For Silvinho, the commitment shown by the players and the competitive spirit they have shown on the field has been at maximum levels.
"I think that in the last two games we played a beautiful game, they were two different and difficult challenges. Moldova is a physically strong team, well placed on the field, well prepared. In attack there are strong players, but I think we managed the game very well and deserved the victory in both challenges. Then the Faroe Islands was a very difficult transfer, from the travel, synthetic grass pitches and in the standard shots we were struggling.
I am satisfied with the commitment, the courage of the footballers, who fought on the field, because afterwards it is said that we played well and won, but I also see many other details, such as the recovery of the ball, the competitive spirit of the footballers and the heart shown on the field above all at home in a stadium filled with 20 thousand fans. I am very satisfied in this aspect", - adds the Brazilian coach.
Asked if he has managed to fully impose his ideas and philosophy of the game on the team, Silvinjo says that this is a process that takes time, while he has appreciated the players, who according to him have immediately embraced the right concepts and adapted very quickly with the methods of the technical staff.
"I think that imposing ideas on the team is something that takes time, I am absolutely very pleased when the gathering with the team starts, because we have the opportunity to improve. This is a starting point, not a finish line, we have been working with the players for four months. We have a lot to improve everyone, but it is a process. They are strong football players, they immediately understand the ideas and concepts of football. The hardest part is that there is a lot of video work and when the players arrive at the training camp they have 3-4 days and then the game, after 3 days, another game and there is not much time to train hard. We have to work with videos, but they are intelligent, very good footballers to produce on the field what we are looking for", - the coach continues his interview.
So, in September there are two very difficult matches against the Czech Republic in the transfer and then against Poland at home. For Silvinho, every challenge should be evaluated to the maximum and he insists on the fact that the national team has five more finals to reach the main goal of qualification.
Also, the coach talks about the program that the technical staff has and when they will resume preparations for the next matches.
"All the games are important, the first game in Poland was important, the two games in June were very important and it's right. Now our most important match is the one against the Czech Republic and then we have Poland. We have 5 finals to play, we have to play hard in these five games and then see what happens.
After the Faroe Islands, the technical staff returned to Tirana and for 3-4 days we continued working together to prepare some things for the months of August and September. We've had a few meetings with everyone and then we'll have some breaks. I will spend time with family in Portugal. The program is to return at the end of July, when the friendly matches or some championships start, to monitor some of our footballers and prepare for the September matches", - emphasizes the coach of the National Team, Silvinjo.
