The Russian who represents Albania in wrestling, Zelimkhan Abakarov, has won gold medals, being declared world champion and raising the red and black flag in the middle of Belgrade.

In a post on social networks, the Albanian National Olympic Committee informs that Abakarov won in the confrontation with the American Thomas Patrick Gilman, while dominating every second of the match.

"On top of the world and gold medal for Albanian wrestling. Zelimkhan Abakarov wins the grand final, beating American Thomas Patrick Gilman and waving the red and black flag in the middle of Belgrade. The Albanian wrestler dominates every second of the match, fully deserving the gold medal and being declared World Champion in the 57 kg category. "Extraordinary, because for the first time in wrestling, an athlete is declared World Champion for Albania", writes KOKSH.

Prime Minister Edi Rama's reaction was immediate, writing on social networks: "Zelimkan Abakarov, a fantastic wrestler with Albanian citizenship, is declared world champion and to the sound of our national anthem, he raises the red and black flag in Belgrade."
