Kosovo drew 1-1 with Switzerland at "Fadil Vokrri" in the final match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The first half was uneventful. Amir Rrahmani was shown a yellow card in the 10th minute for a foul on Embolo. In the 37th minute, Veldin Hoxha took the first shot for the Dardanelles towards the Swiss goal, but it was stopped by goalkeeper Kobel. A minute later, Muriqi tried to head the ball, but it went wide. The first 45 minutes ended 0-0.
It is worth mentioning the constant boos of the fans present at "Fadil Vokrri" towards Granit Xhaka, every time the latter touched the ball.
The reason for this is a statement made by Xhaka a few days ago where he stated that Albian Hajdari and Leon Avduallhu, who left Switzerland for Kosovo, did not have a secure place with the Helvetians and therefore chose the Dardanians. Xhaka also said that Ardion Jashari is better than Leon Avdullahu.
The second half started directly with a goal, but it was the Helvetians who unlocked the score and took the lead first. After a quick action and catching the Dardanian defense by surprise, Ruben Vargas found the net, after an assist from Djibril Sow.
In the 74th minute, Florent Muslija lifts the stadium with a spectacular goal, a beautiful and classy shot from distance. The score does not change until the end.
Switzerland closes the group in first place with 14 points and goes to the World Cup, Kosovo with 11 points in second place and will play its last chances in the play-offs in March.
