Cristiano Ronaldo challenged the robot goalkeeper who moves with artificial intelligence to penalties.
How did it end?
CR7 managed to score, but he had to try several times before finding the right trajectory and angle to defeat that silhouette that covers the entire height of the goal and that has enough "intuition" to analyze shots, encoding the direction and speed of the ball thanks to several sensors placed on the sides of the goal.
Who invented such a machine?
Mark Rober is a former American NASA engineer who built the machine against which the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was tested.
Penalty shootout between CR7 and the robot goalkeeper
The duel between man and machine took place during the break in the championships for the national team matches. The entire structure was erected inside the sports center where Portugal was staying. Many of CR7's teammates were present to watch the special competition, including Juventus player Conceiçao and former black and white player Renato Veiga. After a few warm-up shots, the YouTuber's explanation of how the device works (with a test that left everyone speechless) and a few jokes ("he's better than some other goalkeepers I know...", said Ronaldo), the duel began.

Cristiano Ronaldo wins, but had to pull off a "trick"
The Al-Nassr player had to try hard before he emerged victorious. He tried several solutions: shooting hard, accurately, changing the angle or even choosing the “central” solution, which often fools real goalkeepers, moving them. But he was not made of flesh and blood. Surrender, however, is not a verb that exists in the vocabulary of Cristiano Ronaldo, who always likes to push beyond the limits of his career. After all, he himself has said: “I am not the one who chases records, but the records chase me”. And so it was against the robotic goalkeeper.
CR7 was not discouraged and used his wits, helped by a little luck. To nullify the "artificial" goalkeeper's skill, he used all his technique, inventing a trick that comes from years of experience.
How?
By releasing a powerful shot, which was placed where even the car cannot reach. In that single free space that only millimeter precision can capture. And so it happened. The powerful trajectory defeated the guard, but only by a very small margin.
