In the first half, Spain dominated possession with composure and confidence in midfield, while France retreated, requiring lightning-fast counterattacks with the speed of Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise.

However, the French strategy completely failed. The Spanish midfield imposed its tactical play, controlled the pace, interrupted passes and closed every space, neutralizing the speed of the French attacking four.

Spain continued to apply pressure and create chances until the decisive moment, when Lucas Digne illegally interfered with Lamine Yamal inside the area and the referee awarded a penalty, which Mikel Oyarzabal converted to make it 1-0.
