Analyst: Haaland to join City, only officialization remains

Erling Braut Haaland is "very close" to reaching an agreement to join Manchester City, according to journalist and sports analyst Guillem Balague. Haaland's contract expires in 2024, but a release clause allows him to leave for 75m euros this summer.

Balague believes City have secured the Norwegian striker, 21, before Real Madrid's interest in him emerged.

"He'll be at Manchester City, I think," said Balague, BBC Sport's European football expert. "There's no deal, but they're very close."

City, Real and Barcelona have all contacted Haaland, but former Red Bull striker Salzburg ruled out Barça before Karim Benzema's good form for Real apparently made it his mind to join the English Championship leaders.
