Abraham touches Rome's century-old record

If Tammy Abraham scores against Sampdoria, he equals a record that has lasted since 1929, set by a fantastic goalscorer named Rodolfo Volk: 24 goals in his debut season with Roma.

Nicknamed 'Sciabbolone', with two "b" although born in Rijeka, Volk landed in the capital in 1928 and immediately entered the hearts of red fans, along with Fulvio Bernardini, whose name later took the sports centre of Trigoria.

In the first season, Volk scored his 24 goals with the Roma jersey in just 30 games. Abraham has a lower average, having scored 23 goals in 40 games, including cups here.

However, this would not devalue his record if the British striker were to surpass rome's legendary Volk.

The end is a record that has resisted for 93 years and that none of Rome's great centre-backs have been able to break: remaining in the contemporary era, in which more matches are played, Batistuta and Montella, or Dzeko.
