Prime Minister Edi Rama has introduced the "Price Mirror" initiative and the "Salaries" program, which aim to provide more transparency for consumers and keep the prices of a number of food items stable until January 12, 2027.

"I am very glad that we achieved this great objective, finding understanding. The increase in costs as a whole is a characteristic of all countries, a step must be taken between the traditional dividing line between the one who sells and the one who buys. A way must be found to strengthen one more opportunity. Thanks to the communication and interaction of these 5 important food trading entities in Albania, we have this overview in hand, the overview of prices and with this agreement that will have reasonable and unchangeable prices until January 12 of next year", said Rama.

According to Rama, there are currently over 200 items included in this initiative, while the objective is to expand the list to 1,000 products by the end of the year.

The head of government announced that the agreement has been reached with five important food trading entities in the country, emphasizing that the goal is to include more businesses, including retail outlets, in order to ease costs for citizens.

 "I want to thank the entities and their representatives for this not small achievement. This is not the end, but the beginning of a process, where we want to include more and more entities, small entities and retail outlets. For this reason, the law also provides for a fine if those prices are speculation. Our effort and call will be continuous.

On the other hand, today there are over 200 items that are part of this overview, the goal is to have 1,000,000 by the end of the year. There are often calls for us to set prices, because this is impossible for us, we have chosen a system where prices are set by free and fair competition. This will be a relief for consumers and I believe that we will need work.

Time will teach us more, but this price mirror is part of a broader concept that is "Albania Mirror". Everyone can see with their own eyes in a reliable mirror the facts of everyday life. Creating a unique mirror, where the state is accessible with a click, is very necessary at this time. "Price Mirror", added the Prime Minister.
