The Prime Minister's Office has canceled a consultation roundtable on magistrates' salaries, scheduled to be held today, after magistrates refused to participate. The GJKKO, the Supreme Court, the Union of Judges, the National Association of Judges and the Association of Prosecutors say they did not participate in the discussions on a new salary scheme, as the new law that was approved by the Parliament has already been sent to the Constitutional Court and that its decision must be awaited before this issue is discussed with the government.
However, the magistrates emphasize that the rejection of this round table does not mean the closure of the dialogue between the institutions. In a response to the Prime Minister's Office, the head of the Supreme Court, Sokol Sadushi, says that in the conditions when the issue of magistrates' salaries is in the hands of the Constitutional Court, a discussion on this topic would be inappropriate.
