The meeting of the Special Committee on Territorial Reform in the Albanian Parliament was held today. No agreement was reached on the agenda, thus marking the closing of the committee's work phase.
The Socialist Party will present its proposal only for the new territorial map, determining the number of municipalities into which Albania will be divided.
The approval of the new territorial map is expected to take place on July 23, while the new parliamentary session will review and approve amendments to the law on local self-government and the law on local finances, which are affected by the change in territorial division.
The Socialist Party's proposal for the new territorial map envisages Albania being organized into around 40 to 50 municipalities./ Euronews
