Yuri Kim meets Balluk one day after taking the new job, what they discussed

The US Ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim, met today with the Deputy Prime Minister, Belinda Balluku, one day after the latter assumed her new position.

In a post on social networks, Ambassador Kim writes that she congratulated Balluk on his new assignment and looks forward to strengthening cooperation on all fronts. She informs that they talked about the food and energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, as well as America's cooperation with Albania for the latest cyber attack.

Yuri Kim further adds that concrete steps must be taken to root out corruption, ensure that officials operate to the highest standards and implement justice reform.

"I met with Belinda Balluk today to congratulate her on the additional portfolio as Deputy Prime Minister. We look forward to strengthening cooperation on all fronts, including responding to challenges to food and energy security on a global scale caused by Russia's unjustified war against Ukraine. We also confirmed strong cooperation with the US regarding the recent cyber attack against Albania. US experts from various agencies are supporting Albania's efforts with scientific methods; increasing cyber security to protect the government and citizens; and prevent recurrences I emphasized the importance of more concrete steps to root out corruption, to ensure that officials act according to the highest standards and to implement justice reform.As President Biden has made clear, the U.S. views corruption as a threat to national security, and we will take action accordingly."writes Yuri Kim.
