Albania "challenges" Russia in Kiev

Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha called Russia's demand that foreigners leave Kiev before the bombing unacceptable.

"Threatening embassies is not diplomacy, but intimidation. It represents another violation of international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations," Minister Hoxha wrote in X.

"Albania will not withdraw. We will remain in Kiev. We stand firmly with Ukraine and will not be intimidated."

The response to this war cannot be more war, more crimes or attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure."

Hoxha added that the only solution to this war that should never have started is engagement in peace negotiations.

"I have clearly stated this today to the Russian ambassador in Tirana," Hoxha wrote.

On Sunday, Russia unleashed a wave of bombings on Kiev, which also hit the residence of the Albanian ambassador to Ukraine, Ernal Filo.
