The arrest of the former head of the FBI for counterintelligence, a few days ago, gave voice in Tirana to the opposition's accusations, which have been addressed to Prime Minister Edi Rama.

All the rhetoric of the opposition was clearly in this direction, both from the two factions of the Democratic Party, as well as from Ilir Meta's Freedom Party.

This reaction to a single person is in contrast to the opposition's lack of reaction to issues of very high social sensitivity.

The first is the increase in food prices that is hitting all Albanians very hard, and the second and most flagrant is the increase in the price of oil, about which the opposition has been silent and has not made any protest or similar reaction in Parliament as it happened the day before.

But even in the attack on high state corruption, there was no such reaction, but only some statements given more under public pressure.

In SPAK, a denunciation was made regarding the former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, who was found to have received bribes from the administrators of the incinerators.

On behalf of Arben Ahmetaj's private trips, Klodian Zoto paid from his accounts for luxury hotel reservations.

For this flagrant case of corruption, the opposition did not react and the long and deep silence was clearly a support.

Such developments for any opposition in the world would be a golden opportunity to turn it into a battle horse of daily opposition action and in favor of the public.

But for the Albanian opposition, fragmented as never before, these issues become peripheral and the courage to mention the name Arben Ahmetaj turns into an impossible mission.

The opposition, from one side Sali Berisha to the other Ilir Meta, synchronized with each other, are creating noise by using the indictment against the former high official of the FBI, for internal consumption.

Mostly as an alibi to publicly drop the accusations of Russian funding but also the declaration of Sali Berisha 'non grata' by the United States of America./Tch
