Taulant Balla, invited to a Skype connection today with the show "Zona Zero" on Top News, spoke about the arrest of the former FBI official, Charles McGonigal, and his meeting with the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama.
He declared that this issue has nothing to do with the head of the government of Albania, as he considered the accusations against Rama as oppositional schizophrenia.
"It has nothing to do with either Rama or the SP. It has turned into opposition schizophrenia, this is a shame of those who trumpet it. Officials meet officials of many countries. He has also met with leaders of other countries, Germany and Austria, and this debate does not take place in any country".
Edi Rama is mentioned there...
"Yes, because he is the prime minister of Albania. Anyone who was the prime minister and was asked to meet with an official of this level, would come out to meet him. The conversation was made public by the prime minister years ago. It had to do with gaining experience in the fight against corruption. Following that communication, everything has been made public, there was nothing hidden from that meeting."
The opposition says that this money was used to destroy the opposition?
"Saliu was listening to the word before, he is electrified because he loves them very much. But there is no connection, the public is familiar with all the documents that there is no connection between the meetings in Albania and the payments for which the gentleman is accused. He is accused of payments by persons who have no connection with the Albanian government. The payments do not correspond at all to the time he arrived in Albania."
Is Rama ready to appear before the American authorities?
"First, all the meetings of Prime Minister Rama have been made public, now the file is in the Court, let's leave the decision-making to the American court and we will not undertake to be the New York district judge."
