Details have emerged from the closed-door meeting of the Democratic Party's National Council.
Sali Berisha has requested that the Democrats' focus remain solely on organizing the December 22 protest and the protests that will follow it.
Berisha has stated that only protests and sustainable movements, where citizens do not leave the square, can bring down Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Berisha also said that Rama's government is linked to criminal gangs and, according to him, citizens' trust lies only with the opposition.
There were also proposals at the meeting from Edi Paloka and Lisandër Hoxha, with the latter requesting that any exponent with ties to billionaire George Soros be expelled from the DP.
Excerpts from the discussions at the meeting:
Berisha: We will focus the discussions only on this topic. Every member is invited to express suggestions, opinions, criticisms, remaining a party of free speech. Today we will focus on organizing the Protest. This protest is just the beginning.
Paloka: Initiative by 17 members of the National Council. I propose that since today's topic is protests, a working group be established, and that we discuss it at the first meeting.
Lisandër Hoxha : We believe that Soros is a cancer for democracy, not only Albania, the USA, etc. It is unacceptable to have people associated with this organization among us.
