The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated that the meeting of the DP National Council was delayed due to the protection of the Albanian vote.
Berisha made the comments at the meeting of the DP National Council, where he said that Prime Minister Edi Rama did not win the elections, but according to him, they were a farce.
Accusing the Socialists of spending 2 billion euros in just the last two days before the elections to buy votes, Berisha added that Rama's government is linked to organized crime.
Excerpt from Berisha's speech:
Good evening and a very warm greeting to you, the members of the DP National Council, all democrats, and our supporters wherever they are.
I will begin this speech first with a necessary clarification about the delay in the meeting of the DP National Council after the May 11 elections.
I must guarantee every democrat, every member of the National Council that this delay had only one reason, and that reason was the protection of the vote of Albanian citizens.
I, and all of us, are people of our word.
We keep our word.
Two have been, let's say, our main topics.
First, with Edi Rama there is no choice.
I've said it dozens and dozens of times and I'll say it again, but secondly, we told Albanians that we will defend the vote.
And that protecting the vote was the greatest proof of our seriousness, our dedication, our determination, our integrity and honesty.
Having said this, I emphasize that the 2025 electoral campaign was the campaign with the most excellent electoral program in the entire history of the DP.
It was a campaign with the most skilled architect of electoral campaigns, the architect of President Donald Trump's victory.
It was a campaign in which we guaranteed full and total support from the largest international organizations of center-right parties, CDI, IDU, and just 10 days before the elections, the European People's Party denounced the electoral farce that Edi Rama had prepared before it even took place.
In this context, I can say that the farce of 2025 surpassed incomparable proportions all other electoral farces.
Those who want to blame the opposition for the farce make a big mistake in substance, in essence, and intentionally or unintentionally justify the farce.
Because for every citizen, every individual, every politician, who understands the electoral process, he knows that if the competition takes place between the electoral state and political parties, it is not a competition, but a farce.
For those who, again due to a lack of electoral culture or for other reasons, think differently, I say again that if the government organizes in violation of the law, spending 4,533 activities for each activity, including 7 million on voting day for the Giro D'Italia, it is not holding elections, but rather holding a farce and thereby violating the fundamental principles of international documents on fair elections.
If the government, in an electoral process, gives 65 percent of voters 100 euros per vote, it is not an election, but a farce.
If the government forgives two days before the elections 2 billion euros in fines and interest, what I called 200 million, turns out to be 2 billion, and which interests 200 thousand families and businesses, of which 84 thousand are active, it is not an election, but a farce.
If the government licenses the planting of 28,000 hectares of cannabis out of the 200 authorized by law in the middle of an election campaign, it is not an election, but a farce.
If the government mobilizes as electoral agents salaried employees paid with taxpayer money, the state administration, uses all its logistics, its means, its executive power, they are not elections, but a farce.
And if anyone thinks that Edi Rama won the elections, they are deceiving themselves and are deceived.
If he uses the most dangerous gangs in Europe, such as the Tropliniët of Durrës, Suel Çela of Elbasan, Bajrët of Shkodra, Xhabaftët of Vora, Hakmarre për Drejtësi of Lushnja and Vlora, and gives them a list for 28 MPs, they are not elections, but a farce.
And anyone who claims that Edi Rama was actually voted in in those elections is deceiving themselves and intentionally or unintentionally supporting Edi Rama.
Edi Rama never won the elections, the DP would be in power today if 2 billion euros had not been used two days before the elections, 76 million euros in the middle of the electoral campaign, gangs on all sides to terrorize citizens and buy votes, etc., etc.
