The Democratic Party is holding its National Council meeting today.

The meeting began with a speech by the party leader, Sali Berisha, while the discussions will continue behind closed doors. At the beginning, he explained why the Council meeting was delayed.

"I will begin this speech first with a necessary clarification about the delay in the meeting of the DP National Council after the May 11 elections. I must guarantee every democrat, every member of the National Council that this delay had only one reason, and this reason was the protection of the vote of Albanian citizens," said Berisha.

There are two items on the agenda for discussion.

The first concerns the December 22 protest and the mobilization of DP members to have as many citizens in the square as possible. But discussions regarding movements within the Democratic Party will not be avoided, as many members of the National Council have expressed their dissatisfaction and expect to express their criticism there today as well.

On the other hand, about 17 members of the National Council have built a platform that will be presented to the National Council. It is about the desorification of the DP and demands that all those individuals who have been proven to have benefited from or been part of tenders awarded by the Rama government be removed from the DP. It remains to be seen whether it will be approved by the National Council or not.

According to the document, it is a platform for the "desossification" of the Democratic Party, as well as the removal from the party structures of individuals who have benefited from tenders from the socialist majority.

The request also emphasizes that measures should be taken against those members who, according to the platform's claims, have received aid or scholarships from the Soros Foundation.

The document was signed by 17 members of the DP National Council, who request that the platform be considered and discussed at today's meeting.
