The Berlin process in Tirana, a major political event for the Western Balkans and the European Union, is a celebration, certainly prestigious, but it costs us.

The summit of October 16, together with the preceding organizations within it, cost Albania 112 million ALL or about 1.1 million euros.

Specifically, 61 million lek allocated in February went mainly to the Ministerial and the Economic Forum, while 51 million were dedicated only to Monday's event, which is coming to the new premises of the Pyramid.

The decisions published in the Official Gazette indicate that the money for these expenses will be taken from the Reserve Fund of the State Budget.

Most of these funds are for dedicated infrastructure, both hosting and accommodating the leaders. Also, part of the money goes to security and food that will be served to unusual guests.

At least in the last five years, the Berlin Process Summit is the state organization with the highest spending, followed by the Diaspora Summit in 2019, that of the European Union last year and the Digital Summit in 2020.

Data from the Ministry of Finance and Economy show that last year more money was spent from the Reserve Fund for similar organizations, in the amount of 112.1 million ALL. During 2021, 98.5 million ALL were spent, in 2020, 85.3 million, writes A2.

According to the agenda, the arrival of the leaders will be around 11:00 on Monday, to be concluded in the afternoon with the press conference of Prime Minister Edi Rama, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen.
