The Socialist Party has placed on the Assembly's agenda the vote for the members of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania.

The proposed names are former Democratic MP, Selami Xhepa, former head of the Constitutional Court, Holta Zaçaj, Jonida Prifti, former minister Ervin Mete and Matilda Shehu.

After approval by Prime Minister Edi Rama, this decision enters into force immediately and is published in the "Official Gazette".

Socialist MPs have also expressed support for Selami Xhepa and Holta Zaçaj.

The government has proposed two names that are well-known in the world of finance, Ervin Mete, former Minister of Finance, and Jonida Prifti, who comes from the banking sector.

Selami Xhepa, with a long academic and institutional career, is considered one of the names closest to the opposition.

Holta Zaçaj, former President of the Constitutional Court, is a proposal that also caused a strong debate within the judiciary due to the interpretation of her mandate, that is, when her time as a member of this court was ending.

The Assembly will meet on Thursday, 19.02.2026 at 10:00. /TCH
