At the roundtable organized by the Democratic Party with opposition parties, civil society representatives and intellectuals, actor and activist Florian Binaj gave a short speech in which he called for the unification of opposition parties.
According to Binaj, throughout all these years, time has been wasted focusing on the differences rather than the similarities between political actors, and not enough has been done.
"Throughout this time, we have spent time looking at each other not where we are similar, but where we are different. In this time that has come, I think the most important thing to do is to accept each other as we are, different, and not expect from each other that 'I will cooperate with you if you take my form or I take your form and so on' ," he emphasized.
He underlined that the clashes have been excessive and that the situation in which Albania finds itself requires agreement.
"We've been kicked around enough, cursed at enough, and looked down on enough, now we either have to come to an agreement, or we shouldn't cry later if we're going to be kicked around again ," said Binaj.
At the end of his speech, he thanked the participants and left the table, saying, “Excuse me for leaving, but I have to pick up the kids from school.”
Florjan Binaj: Can I take the floor, because I have to pick up the children from school. I will only take 30 seconds. First of all, thank you very much for making me part of this meeting, I feel privileged.
Second, I think the reason we are in this meeting is because all of us, even those who watch us from home, some more and some less, have not done enough. All this time, we have spent time looking at each other not where we are similar, but where we are different.
In this time that has come, I think the most important thing to do is to accept each other as we are different and not expect from each other that 'I will cooperate with you if you take my form or I will take your form, and so on'.
We've been kicked around enough, we've been cursed at enough, we've been looked at enough, now we either have to come to an agreement, or we shouldn't cry later if we're going to get caught. Thank you, that's all I had to say. Forgive me for leaving, but I have to pick up the kids.
