The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha , has reacted harshly to the flooding situation in the country, accusing the government of not declaring a state of natural disaster.
In a press conference, Berisha stressed that tens of thousands of citizens have their homes and businesses flooded, while their lives are in danger.
"The narco-government is in complete anesthesia, beyond any kind of imagination, any kind of standard, that in conditions where thousands of homes, thousands of citizens have flooded homes, businesses, lives threatened, the government, the narco-government did not declare a natural disaster that forces the state to activate resources to evacuate the residents," he said.
He also focused on the dramatic situation in Durrës, where he emphasized that what favored the flood was the catastrophic state of the sewers, the waterworks, the one in Porto Romano and the area above Bisht i Palës.
"The Porto Romano dam has some gates that don't work, half of them don't work. Meanwhile, the Hamalla dam has burned-out pumps. The sewers are blocked and haven't been cleaned," he said.
Berisha: The floods have taken on new dramatic dimensions throughout the country. The narco-government is in complete anesthesia, beyond any kind of imagination, any kind of standard that in conditions where thousands of apartments, thousands of citizens have flooded their homes, businesses, lives are threatened, the government, the narco-government not only did not declare the presence of a natural disaster that forces the state to activate resources to evacuate residents, but it releases a cynical mockery that claims that the opposition is accusing it of the floods in Greece. The unbridled fantasy of a man who is experiencing nights of horror from the crimes that have become evident to him.
Durrës has been flooded by rainfall, but what favored it was the catastrophic state of the sewers, the hydropower plants, the one at Port Romano and the area above Bisht i Palës.
The first one has some gates that don't work, half of them don't work. Meanwhile, the Hamalla dam has burnt out pumps. The sewers are blocked and haven't been cleaned. Everything favors the water to flood the residents' homes.
There is also a catastrophe in Novoselo. I call on the residents to evacuate as soon as possible, because the Vjosa is a high-risk river with the suddenness of its trends.
