Sali Berisha has reacted harshly to the government over the consequences of the floods, accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of indifference and cynicism in dealing with the catastrophic situation that has affected thousands of families and businesses.
He requests the declaration of a state of natural disaster to enable compensation for damages and to provide assistance to flooded citizens.
According to Berisha, Rama's attitude towards natural disasters is a kind of "crime" that shames every sensitive person.
Berisha: Thousands and thousands of Albanian families have suffered very serious consequences from the floods.
In the Durrës district alone, around 4 thousand homes, businesses and other buildings have been affected. The damage is extremely large.
But it is not just the Durrës district that has been affected by floods, from Gjirokastra to Shkodra there are thousands and thousands of other families, businesses and factories that have suffered irreparable damage.
The Democratic Party demands the immediate declaration of a state of natural disaster in this area. Edi Rama or Ramaduro, who is making a fuss, does not declare a state of natural disaster in Durrës and Lezha, or Shkodra and other regions, simply because the law obliges him in this situation to respond one by one to the damages caused by the natural disaster. This indifferent, cynical attitude is a kind of crime in itself.
In 4 months, a citizen of Durrës would declare today, I have been flooded four times. Edi Rama reacts to this natural disaster, of unprecedented proportions, with extreme cynicism, with a shamelessness, with a mockery of the flooded citizens.
In his post, he blames the opposition, which is not accusing him of the torrential rains that have fallen. This cynical, mocking attitude towards citizens shames any person with a conscience. But Ramaduro is in great panic and horror and does not know what he is talking about.
