Democratic Party MP, Arjan Ndoja, has reacted to the aggravated situation created in the city of Durrës as a result of bad weather and heavy rainfall, raising concerns about the floods recorded in neighborhood 17.

Through a post, he emphasizes that the situation does not constitute a natural disaster, but is a consequence of the lack of intervention and mismanagement over the years by the responsible institutions, emphasizing the uncleaned canals and problems with the functioning of the hydropower plant.

Dear friends!
It is with great regret that I inform you about the serious situation that Durrës is going through today.
This situation occurs in the area of ​​neighborhood 17 Durrës.
It is a chronicle of a warned event and not a natural disaster.
It is a problem that I have raised in the Assembly several times, but the structures have not taken any measures. The canals are uncleaned.
The large water reservoir was moved and is in violation of technical regulations, due to being placed at a higher level than the existing one.
This is a human disaster and a lack of addressing the problem over the years by the responsible structures.
The Municipality has the main role in relation to the drafting of projects for this area and the Ministry of the line that is tasked with managing the drainage channels and the water reservoir.
I regret to transmit this sad news that comes as a result of mismanagement and lack of efficiency of local and central government bodies.
Today only civil emergencies can be present, but the problem is unresolved.
