The former mayor of Fier, Baftjar Zeqo, reacted for the first time regarding the mention of his name in the incinerator file, for which SPAK requested the arrest of Arben Ahmetaj.

Zeqo said that he has never signed tenders for incinerators, as according to him the waste processing plants were created after 2015, when he had already left the post of mayor.

Zeqo distanced himself from Ahmetaj, calling him only a friend of the party and not his personal friend.

"There is no moment that says that I met with Ahmetaj, nor did I drink coffee... I did not sign tenders for the incinerators. The incinerator is after 2015. The second moment is that SPAK is investigating, that's all I know about incinerators. I have not communicated with Ahmetaj, he is a party member, he was not my friend", said Zeqo.

The former mayor of Fier added that 11 years have passed since Ahmetaj sent him a message to welcome Mirel Mërtir. He added that he does not remember whether he met Mürtir or not.

"I don't remember the meeting and the topic about Mürtir. If I remembered, I would say. I don't recognize his face. Ahmetaj sent me an SMS to wait for Mürtir. The meeting happened 11 years ago. I don't know if I expected it or not. I am worried that my name is misused, not that it was mentioned in SPAK", said Zeqo.
