Rama at the Arbëreshe Day summit in Tirana

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that the Arbëresh Museum, an initiative aimed at preserving and promoting the Arbëresh heritage, will be established in Kruja Castle.

During the proceedings of the Diaspora Summit, Rama said that in addition to the Museum, there are also a number of other ideas that are waiting to give life to this relationship at different human levels.

"We do not have such a museum, while the Arbëresh community has fanatically preserved extraordinary relics and the representatives of that community are more than willing to have the Arbëresh Museum in Albania, which we have also found the country. Where else but in Skanderbeg Castle", said Rama.

Likewise, Rama emphasized that a wine day has also been organized by taking some of our wine producers to Arbëri.

He informed that a calendar will also be built to connect the producers because in the end they are all Albanian wines.

Prime Minister Edi Rama's speech at the Arbëreshe Day summit in Tirana:

It is a privilege as well as a pleasure to address the closest great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of Skënderbeu in the language of Skënderbeu here today on Arbëreshëve Day, an exclusive part of this 3rd Summit of Disaspora that brings together Albania with Albanians.

At the end of 1466, Gjergj Kastrioti traveled for the last time to Italian land with a troop of knights. Chroniclers recount that upon landing in Ancona, Gjergj Kastrioti held a prayer for Arbëria. He spent Christmas in Rome together with Pope Paul II. He chose to make himself comfortable at a friend's arboretum, where today the building of the Italian Presidency is located.

The chronicles of the time also show how George of the Albanians had aroused curiosity everywhere, not only because of the echo of courage and triumphs on the battlefield, but also because of the unusual language, the unknown customs of his people. The most beautiful wreaths are those that never break, said Jul Bariboba.

My work has taken me to many places and among many different, attractive, beautiful cultures, but the emotion of visiting Arbëresh has remained in a special shelf of my memory like those ancient books of wonderful miniatures. And I have indelible impressions of the small square of the first town where we landed, the dance and songs of the Arbër children who welcomed us, the old men of that town standing on the balconies, the Arbër church where its high hierarchs welcomed us and the passion and the concern about the language they expressed to us in all the meetings.

And it was there that the idea of this special Arbëresh day was born, and for the first time perhaps in the 111 years of existence of the Albanian state, Arbëria and the Arbëresh are not just a presence to complete a folklore panorama, nor invited to decorate this summit with their clothing, but are present through their representation and of course also through this joint effort to place a stone on a path that we must continue together. And that's where the idea of an institutional handshake was born, not to part again, saying good bye, we're glad to see each other and when we see each other again, but to build a process walking hand in hand in function of a greater support structured and systematic that the Albanian state must give to this treasure of our history which the passion and trust handed down from generation to generation has preserved for so many centuries and even though the Arbëresh people have been completely integrated into the great Italian community, all the best of that community, they have not lost the passion of that trust that today is being challenged not by the negligence of the people of Arbëresh, but is being challenged by the time which is bringing many storms of a demographic nature for everyone and is bringing new things unimaginable until yesterday for the children that are turning into a worldwide concern for learning and for the elevation of the language of the country where they live, and no longer of languages like this one of Arbëresh, which is one of the rare things in this world. We know very well that the Albanian language itself is threatened by impoverishment, by deformations, by the loss of its depth as a result of many reasons. But imagine how much more difficult it is for the people of Arbëresh and for this reason we have decided to open this process that started with the forms that were thrown here today between the mayor of Tirana and a representative of the municipalities of Arbëresh that will continue with the twinning of all municipalities ours with all Arbëresh municipalities, we are more or less in approximate numbers and we will build a special program supported by the government for the municipalities to give life to this twinning and turn it into a bridge that creates opportunities for communication between the Arbëresh community and Albania.

It was there in those days that the idea of the arboretum museum in Albania was born. We do not have a museum, while the Arbëresh committee has fanatically preserved the extraordinary relics and the representatives of that community are more than willing to have the Arbëresh museum in Albania, for which we have found a place where else besides in the Skanderbeg fortress.

And there are a number of other ideas, from these institutional ones to those that give life to this relationship. Since the days of summer, we have held a first wine day by taking some of our wine producers to Arbëri and we will also build a calendar for this to connect the producers together because they are all Albanian wines.

Up to the program of receiving and taking children from Arbëresh municipalities to our municipalities in families and from our municipalities to Arbëresh municipalities in families.

The Arbëreshes took the knightly Albania with them, kept that old identity alive with great fanaticism and succeeded for so many centuries. For us, it is of great importance to also look deeper into this treasure at the work and legacy of those distinguished professors, because it is an extraordinary contribution to another scientific academic level.

When asked to describe himself, a famous prime minister of Italy, Francesco Crispi, a friend of Garibaldi, a friend of Macini and Bismarck, of Arberes, said of himself, the peak of Etna undisturbed under a bed of snow that burns inward from the lava of an age-old matter. No one can describe the people of Arbëresh more beautifully than that. For us, that centuries-old lava of matter under that peak of Etna is very precious, and listening to me, I hope that the people of Arbëresh did not whisper that expression, not all of what you are saying is true. I very much wish that together we can do much that must be done, taking an example from your energy and crown that never fades.
