Fredi Beleri reacted after the visit of Greek MP from New Democracy, Angelos Syrigos, who met him yesterday in Tirana prison.
He says he has sought to immediately take office as mayor of Himara to stop, according to him, the robbery of property being done to the Greek community in the area.
He says he has asked the Greek MP to transmit three requests to Greek Prime Minister Qirjako Michotaqi; He is released from prison, assumes office as mayor and all charges brought against him are dropped.
Beller's full response:
I thank my heart the professor, the Deputy of New Democracy and my close friend, Mr. Angelos Syrigos, who visited me in tirana prison, the envoy of the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
From Mr. Angelos Syrigos I requested that he transmit to the Prime Minister of Greece my decision, which is a request of all the people of Himara, to immediately assume office as Mayor to stop the robbery of property of the Greek community.
They prepared a law supposedly aimed at developing the area by attracting foreign capital. To date, not even a foreigner has invested in our area. All those who have been declared strategic investors are all Albanians with ties to power.
Our goal is also to live in a democratic state where there is no difference in ethnicity of its citizens and to stop the blackmail policies of the population.
Mr. Syrigos told him I expect three things:
I swear to you, the mayor of the city whose people elected me.
I am freed from prison so that I can exercise my duties as mayor.
I am going to be the unjust, ridiculous, tendetic and baseless accusation that has been made against me.
In the person of the Greek Prime Minister we thank Greece for fighting alongside us to secure our human rights.
