Interior Minister Taulant Balla reacted after a case published in the media, where a police officer was denounced who allegedly took bribes from a driver in Lezha.

Balla says the State Police will be cleansed from the crime fires, both in front of it and inside it.

He thanks a citizen who informed him of the location of a cannabis parcel in Shkodra and says his anonymity will remain in complete secret.

Balla also calls on the Police Oversight Agency headed by Ardi Veliu to be at the level of prime ministerial expectations.

Message of the Face:

Self-cleaning of the State Police is a process that has entered a new phase and will be carried out to the end. Strengthening cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the joint struggle for the cleansing of crime fires, both in front of and within the State Police organization itself, will bring Albania to another level of rule of law. All threads that leak sensititive information should be cut, including any form of communication with various applications used by the crime, which should be fully investigated and the persons involved excluded and placed before the law.

I thank dozens of citizens who have reported cases or filed complaints about suspected illegal actions or that are in conflict with the Code of Ethics in the State Police. In a short time, we have, based on these reports/complaints, police officers arrested, as well as excluded for violating ethical norms.

I thank a citizen of Shkodra, who sent us a tip last night about the location of a cannabis parcel. The State Police received the information and the information was very accurate and the police operation was successfully closed. I guarantee that his information was treated with great care and that his anonymity will be preserved as a treasure.

I thank the media for making available film material about the suspicious behavior of a police patrol in Lezha last night. It is unacceptable, it is compromising actions even if in that hand and pocket there is no reasonable doubt of every eye that sees it and every mind that judges it.

Today I want to repeat for every state police officer, that the fight against corruption does not start outside us, but begins from within our ranks. The Police Supervision Agency must do the task at the level of expectations of the Prime Minister, mine as Minister and the public, in any case and immediately!
