With the beginning of 2023, the analyzes and surveys for the new mayors, who will be elected on May 14, will also begin. Therefore, in these last days of 2022 (a year with strong political events), it is worth doing an analysis of the parties' electoral quotas for the parliamentary race.

I have not conducted any national survey in recent weeks, but I conducted one in the territory of the Municipality of Tirana, which has served for two decades as an electoral barometer for the whole of Albania.


The poll showed that the electoral quotas of the majority have remained almost the same as those of April 2021 – more than half of those who are already determined to vote in the parliamentary elections, give their vote to the SP+PSD (see accompanying chart). While this year's innovation is the division of the DP quota between two factions - that of Berisha and Alibeaj.

The faction of the latter today receives a quarter of the votes of Berisha's faction, thus making it an important electoral factor in the great balance between the parties - just like the LSI used to be, when it split from the SP.

It remains to be seen whether Alibeaj's faction will compete in future electoral contests as a separate electoral entity, or under Berisha's umbrella...
