Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji has reacted after the disqualification of all candidates from the race for Democratic Party chairman, leaving only the current leader, Sali Berisha, in the race.

Salianji states in his post on social networks that Berisha and the people around him only serve the interests of the current party leader. He raises concerns that the DP is heading towards extinction.

According to him, Berisha is a leader who is already worn out, investigated, isolated and incapable of uniting the opposition. Finally, Salianji calls on the Democrats not to remain silent in the face of this situation.

"The miserable standard of how Berisha is treating the Democratic Party expresses a profound lack of historical responsibility for the sacrifices of the Democrats who have been in opposition for 13 years."

The surface of this statesman to the point of total degradation with division, with idiocy, with imaginary friends and enemies... with lies and base lies that have left the democrats on the streets for 13 years, express the loss of the last "castle" that he had managed to erase: manhood.

He and the circle that surrounds him abuse the loyalty and values ??of the Democrats, putting them under moral pressure: to remain silent "out of respect for their age", to remain silent in the face of "the honors that have been bestowed upon them", to remain silent before the dissolution of the Democratic Party due to their connection to it.

Who is responsible for the deepest defeat since 1997, on May 11, 2025? Who made the lists? Who drafted the banal program as if it were 1995? Who led the campaign?

And the most important question: how will the Democratic Party win?

Even the most die-hard democrats know that with Sali Berisha and this leadership, they will never win.

Every day that he remains at the head of the Democratic Party of Albania is a loss for the opposition and for Albania.

Time only works for change. Sali Berisha can never represent it.

He is worn out, isolated, investigated, unable to unite the opposition.

We cannot talk about change in Albania by rejecting change in the DP. We cannot ask for the votes of Albanians like this.

The Democratic Party can never be strong without competition, without representation, without accountability.

Any attempt to avoid these weakens the Democratic Party and distances it from the citizens.

The Democratic Party cannot be a party of individuals, it does not deserve to be! It must return to a party of the masses and power. It is the property of the Democrats and the hope of thousands of Albanians who have been waiting for the rotation for years!

The DP does not deserve to be extinguished because of its leader.

They got the accounts wrong, especially with me and most Democrats.

"Time calls on democrats not to remain silent," Salianji writes on social media.

The elections within the Democratic Party are expected to be simply a referendum, where the current leader Sali Berisha could be confirmed again as the party leader. This is because today, May 1, the other two candidates who intended to participate in this race, Vladimir Mulaj and Mereme Sela, have not qualified as candidates, as they do not meet the established conditions.

Sela and Mulaj did not meet the criteria, a conclusion reached after the review by KOKOE. According to the DP's guidelines, in addition to the integrity of the figure, the candidate must have had at least 10 years of commitment to the DP. Also, leadership experience at the national or regional level in political battles and on civic issues is required.
