Discovering a betrayal is always a bad blow, but learning about it from the papers while your father is dying is even more painful.

"Everything happened at once, my house was falling apart. I learned through the press that I had been betrayed while my father was in intensive care. I thought I wouldn't have survived it all," Shakira told the Spanish edition of "People".

Shakira has revealed that she was still recovering from her split from Gerard Pique when her father William Mebarak Chadid was hospitalized after a fall.

"He had come to Barcelona to stay by my side, as the sadness of the separation was consuming me. At the first communion in Milan, he was seriously injured in an accident. It happened at the same time, I thought I wouldn't escape that avalanche chaos".

Left alone, tragedy struck when she needed Piqué the most. "The man I wanted most in my life, I wanted to go to my best friend to get the advice I needed."

However, the ex-footballer was no longer by her side, and in those days the singer learned from the newspapers that she had already thrown herself into the arms of another, the 22-year-old model Clara Chia, whom it seems she will soon marry.

She considers her father a great example of resilience, as he managed to recover thanks to an iron temper.

"He overcame COVID once, two accidents, pneumonia and five surgeries. All this at the age of 91, in less than six months. My father is the greatest example of resilience and mine. His mother was by his side day and night."

Her relationship with Gerard Piqué was now irreparably broken and therefore it was difficult to compare it to the great love story of her parents: “They were both a reflection of that dream that did not come true for me. But I hope they are a model of love, patience, absolute dedication and joy of life for my children."
