It is generally thought that who likes dogs and cats, has a social personality, open and empathetic.
On the contrary, who likes cats more, has a reserved and closed personality in himself. Fortunately, studies have been done, which try to show some personality qualities depending on the favorite animal, dog or cat.
Two studies have been done to find out if there really is a link between personality and preference between dog and cat. One was created by the University of Texas at Sam Gosling. The study involved 4,565 people, asked by Gosling on preference between dog or cat.
The answers are analyzed according to the "Big Five" scheme, ie according to the essential characteristics that define personality. The second study was conducted on Facebook, it is less scientific, but involved 160 thousand users.
The results have surprised experts. According to them, the characteristics we have mentioned above are real. According to Gosling's study, 12% of respondents preferred cats, 46% preferred dogs and 42% said they loved both animals, or neither.
From these studies it was found that people who prefer dogs, are more extroverted and adventurous. They prefer good company and are social types.
While who prefers cats, is more demanding and introverted. The latter are also more likely to be anxious.
