Julia Roberts has stated that not shooting nude scenes has been her choice throughout her 35-year career.
"Not to criticize other people's choices, but for me not to undress in a movie or to be physically vulnerable is a choice I make for myself," she said during an interview with the director of "Notting Hill". Richard Curtis.
The actress told him that she almost did not accept the protagonist role in the film. "Honestly, one of the hardest things I've done was your movie, playing a movie actress. I was not comfortable at all! We have talked about it often, but I almost refused because it seemed so strange. I didn't even know how to play it."
Roberts added that in her career she has acted in films suitable for a wide audience.
She had a stunt double for her erotic scenes in the movie "Pretty Woman" where she played a prostitute and has confessed that she asked for a sex scene in the movie "Duplicity" to be changed.
"It's not what I do, so if you're going to ask me, you should expect it to be more tame. As a mother of three children, that's how I feel," Julia said at the time.
Among other things, she has said that: "I would not play nude in movies. Acting with the clothes on is performance. Acting naked is a documentary".
Among other things, Roberts told Curtis that she thinks of herself as a "straightforward" person who "speaks simply" without trying to be "rude."
