An Iranian man who held the title of the "dirtiest man in the world" because he hadn't washed in decades has died at the age of 94, an official said today.
Amu Haji, who had not bathed for more than 50 years, died on Sunday in the village of Dejgah in southern Iran's Fars province, the Irna news agency reported.
According to a local official quoted by the agency, Haji, who was single, avoided bathing for fear of "getting sick".
A short documentary about his life titled "The Strange Life of Amu Haji" was filmed in 2013, according to local media.
"For the first time, a few months ago, the villagers took him to the toilet to wash," Irna reported.
