"Alehandro Group", one of the largest Albanian wine trading companies, headquartered in Tirana, but internationally known, is bringing added value to the entire Balkan area.

The entrepreneur of Albanian origin, Erjola Braha, or as she is known in oenological circles as the "wine woman", is bringing her Italian wine business to Albania.

After the creation of Alehandro Group, Erjola Braha is today a woman with twenty years of experience, an ambassador of dozens of excellences of national and foreign wines. This is also thanks to consolidated partnerships with some of the world's leading producers, such as Château Lafite Rothschild, Edmond Rothschild, Louis Roederer, Ornellaia, Marchese Mazzei at Villa Sandie and others.

In an interview for Forbes Italia, Erjola has shown that she has promoted a series of Masterclasses in the best places in Tirana, Vlora and the rest of the country to spread the culture of wine and the awareness that the so-called "Italian style" remains a philosophy with great value.

It has introduced new information technologies and sustainable systems to improve the distribution and promotion of wines, making Alehandro Group an example of innovation in this sector.

Also, Erjola has shown that a dream of hers is already coming true, as she is close to opening an academy for training young people in the wine sector.

This project aims to educate and train future generations of professionals, raising awareness for the promotion of Italian wine culture and tradition.

"We are creating an academy which will have the task of training the new generations who are approaching the world of wine, for profession or pleasure. There will be teachers from Italy who will take care of training at the academy, to make it another jewel of this territory" , she said.

Among other things, the CEO of Alehandro Group has stopped at tourism in Albania, where it is already being described as a luxury destination.

She says that there are a number of reasons why Albania is considered such a country, starting from the unspoiled landscapes and the wonderful Mediterranean coast, to the creation of high-level hotels and resorts as well as the local cuisine.

“Visitors can undertake unique cultural experiences at the many UNESCO sites, including historic cities and ancient ruins. National policy has given a significant impetus to this development, aiming to create high-end hotels and resorts that offer high-end hospitality. Moreover, the local cuisine, which combines Mediterranean and Balkan influences, adds more charm, making Albania an attractive destination for this type of travel ," she confesses.

Excerpt from the interview:

From passion to profession, how did it happen? Let's start from the first steps

When I arrived in Italy I was very young and it was very easy to integrate into the Italian culture and lifestyle. As soon as I returned to Albania, I immediately thought of doing something important for my country, applying what Italy had taught me. Entering the world of wine was natural, as I spent my youth among the hills of Valdobbiadene and immediately knew that this was my path. So, to increase my skills, I focused on this sector, getting informed, enjoying and visiting many companies. In the end, after many efforts, I managed to import the first bottles of wine to Albania. It was a unique emotion.

The business is based in Albania, but has expanded its scope to the Balkans. What are your horizons today?

As I said earlier, I have always been fascinated by everything 'Made in Italy'. Over the years, I specialized in importing the best Italian wines to the main Albanian markets, expanding my business to the rest of the Balkans. Then, increasing my experience in this fantastic sector, I expanded my oenological horizons to include some of the most prestigious French Maisons in my wine list.

How is Alehandro Group structured?

Alehandro Group today is a young and dynamic company, where competence and training are the basis of success. The structure of the company consists of different operating sectors that closely interact with each other and starting from administrative and sales, until the delivery of the product. A company that covers the entire supply chain and makes customer service its primary goal.

Relationships with key players in the sector are important. Among them, the world president of wine producers, Riccardo Cotarella. Visiting the world of wine, I had the chance to meet many people, producers, oenologists, sommeliers and many others. All fantastic people and passionate about their work. One of them is precisely the president Riccardo Cotarella, a world-renowned wine producer, with whom we cooperate commercially by importing some of his company's wines.

What are the medium and long-term objectives to bring Made in Italy wines to the Balkans?

Alehandro Group is increasingly specializing in increasing skills in the wine sector, to always offer a meticulous and professional service to our customers. The Balkans is in full economic and touristic development, therefore it is essential to perfect our presence in a broad way and increase the distribution capacity. In this demanding work, we have the advantage precisely from the fact that we are dealing with wines produced in Italy, a brand capable of distinguishing products and services with quality and refinement recognized globally. Recently, there has been an increase in demand, especially in tourist areas, for local wines. For this reason, we are developing a new project aimed at creating our own cellar to produce some of our brand wines.

Let's talk about Albania. Today it has become a luxury destination, why?

In recent years, Albania is emerging as a luxury tourist destination thanks to its unspoiled landscapes and wonderful Mediterranean coastline. Visitors can undertake unique cultural experiences at the many UNESCO sites, including historic cities and ancient ruins. National policy has given a significant impetus to this development, aiming to create high-end hotels and resorts that offer high-end hospitality. Moreover, the local cuisine, which combines Mediterranean and Balkan influences, adds more charm, making Albania an attractive destination for this type of travel.

Rothschild and Roederer, what is your relationship with these two companies?

The Rothschild and Roederer companies play an important role in the luxury wine market, contributing the highest quality products that are recognized and appreciated globally. I am the ambassador of these two families in Albania, with the commitment to distribute their magnificent products, always at high levels.

The Academy project, what does it consist of?

Even for Albania, the future is represented by trained and motivated young people, regardless of the sector they belong to. That is why we are creating an academy which will have the task of training the new generations who are approaching the world of wine, for profession or pleasure. There will be teachers from Italy who will take care of the training in the academy, to make it another jewel of this territory.

What does doing business in this sector mean for a young woman like you?

The world of wine in the past years, not only in Albania, was very unacceptable. Therefore, in the first years I had to fight to establish myself in this sector and to advance my business vision. Today, fortunately, things have changed and a woman, if she is determined and capable, can certainly assert herself and get great results.

Who would you like to say thank you to today?

I want to express my gratitude to the Albanian and Italian institutions for the continuous support of my many projects, to the companies that with their fantastic products allow me to establish myself in the market. To my colleagues, whose enthusiasm and commitment are the driving force behind this adventure, and to my clients, whose trust makes everything possible.

Dreams in the drawer?

There are still many of them. In the future I want to continue to grow in the wine sector, taking Albania to an international reference point for high quality wines. I would like to train, through the academy, the next generations of wine professionals, not only in Albania, but in the entire Balkan region. Furthermore, I wish to further consolidate my international partnerships, continuing to represent prestigious wine families and spreading Italian culture in my country.
