Humans are something unique on planet Earth, and it remains a great mystery how they evolved. What were the first steps? Why did we evolve this way and not in another direction? What other paths could we have taken?
1 – Why does our brain grow?
There is no doubt that our brains have given humans a tremendous advantage in the world. The human brain is an extremely expensive organ, accounting for only 2% of the body's mass. The brain uses more than 1/5 of the body's energy. Humans 2 million years ago had no bigger brains than apes, but there is a possibility that brain enlargement helped our ancestors to create better objects. Bigger brains help us communicate better with each other.
2 – Why do people walk with two legs?
Our ancestors also evolved posture even before stone tools were invented. But the question is, why don't we walk like monkeys with 4 legs? Maybe because walking on two legs makes us use less energy. By leaving the wings free, it helped our ancestors to collect more food. By standing upright they were able to control their body temperature.
3 – What happened to our hair?
The question that has always been asked is why, unlike monkeys, humans do not have hair? One suggestion is that our ancestors shed their hair to stay cooler in hot weather. Another suggestion is that people removed their hair to keep parasites away from contracting diseases.
4 – Why did our relatives disappear?
About 24 thousand years ago, our species, Homosapiens, were not alone in the world, but our relatives, the Neanderthals, were still alive. It is also thought that in Indonesia there was another race called Homo, which managed to survive until 12 thousand years ago. But why were we the only ones alive? Some evidence shows that we have managed to withstand infections and environmental hardships.
5 – Is the evolution of humanity accelerating?
Recent evidence suggests that humanity is not only evolving, but accelerating in its evolution. Some scientists challenge the validity of this evidence, saying that it is still unclear to prove the acceleration, since unhealthy diets and diseases can block it.
6 – What do we mean by "Hobbit"?
"Hobbit" is the nickname used to refer to the small skeletons found on the Indonesian island of Flores in 2003, an endangered human species. Are these skeletons examples of deformed homosapiens? If this mystery is solved, it will be possible to shed light on the radical paths that human evolution has followed.
7 – Why did modern humanity spread across Africa 50,000 years ago?
About 50,000 years ago, modern humans expanded beyond Africa, quickly spreading around the world to colonize all continents except Antarctica. A number of scientists attributed this migration to a mutation that transformed our brains, leading us to use language and allowing us to use more sophisticated tools.
8 – Did we have sex with Neanderthals?
Have we mixed with the Neanderthal race? Do our species contain genes left over from then-extinct relatives? Some scientists suggest that the Neanderthals did not die out, but that they became part of modern humanity.
9 – Who was the first hominid?
Scientists are discovering more and more ancient hominids of all time, including our ancestors or ancient relatives. They are looking hard to answer the fundamental question of human evolution.
10 – Where do modern people come from?
The most debated question in the discipline of human evolution is where modern humans evolved from. According to the raised hypotheses, modern humans evolved in Africa and then spread throughout the world, replacing existing populations.
