The first television commercial in history appeared in the United States of America on July 1, 1941, at 2:29 p.m., Demokracia.com reports.
The ad, which lasted ten seconds, was about a Bulova brand watch. It consisted of an image of a clock on a map of the United States and a voice saying: "America runs on Bulova time." Priced at $4, this ad ran on New York's WNBT during a rebroadcast of a baseball game between the Brooklyn Dogs and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Although at the time, not many people had televisions in New York City, this ad was successful, leading to Bulova following in its footsteps.
Another major step in the history of television advertising occurred in the decade of the 60s. An NBC official suggested airing commercials about a minute long.
