An unusual episode occurred last weekend in Ashland, Virginia, where the “masked robber” who caused chaos at a liquor store turned out to be… a drunken raccoon. The incident was recorded in the early hours of Saturday morning, when the wild animal secretly entered the closed store, tearing a hole through the ceiling.

After getting among the whiskey and other drinks, he caused a real mess: broken bottles and spilled drinks on the floor. The employee who found him described the sight as unbelievable. The raccoon was lying unconscious on the floor of the store's restroom, clearly "overwhelmed" by the drinks he had consumed during his nightly adventure.

Animal control officer Samantha Martin was called to the scene and couldn't hide her humor at the situation. "I love raccoons," she said. "They're very playful creatures. This one fell out of the ceiling and made a big mess, drinking everything in its path."

The raccoon was taken to a shelter to be monitored until the effects of the alcohol wore off. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that he had not suffered any physical injuries. "After several hours of sleep and with no signs of injury, other than perhaps a headache, he was safely released into the wild," the Animal Protection Agency reported.
