Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been friends for many years and have won an Oscar together. But until now they had kept us a "secret". Both, in their beginnings, had decided to keep a joint bank account.

The pair appeared on "The Bill Simmons Podcast" (via CNBC) and revealed that they had a joint bank account in the late 1980s in order to finance auditions to launch their acting careers.

“It was unusual, but we needed the money for the auditions,” Damon said, while Affleck added: “We wanted to help each other and be there for each other. It was like we were saying to each other, 'You won't be alone. I won't leave you alone. We're going to go out and do this together.'"

Whenever Affleck or Damon finished a role, the money from the job went into their joint bank account.

As Damon explained, “As long as one of us had money, we knew the power wouldn't go out. After I did 1992's Geronimo, we had $35,000 in the bank. We knew we would be good and safe for a year."

Of course there were 'rules'.

“The money allowed us to go to New York [for auditions]. We were allowed to take $10 and play video games. We were allowed to buy beer,” Damon said.

Everyone would love a company like that of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
