The spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview for the Balkan version of "Russia Today", launched a series of attacks on the leaders of Kosovo, defending Belgrade while placing it in the role of the victim.
She said that Belgrade has shown itself to be a constructive party and that it wants a peaceful compromise solution. Zakharova also responded to Kosovo's accusations that Serbia, driven by Russia, is seeking war.
"It is a lie, which aims to discredit Belgrade and divert attention from the ethnic cleansing that is taking place in Kosovo and Metohija. Also, it's an attempt to divert attention from Kurt, whose behavior has become the new normal," said Zakharova.
Regarding the armed attack in Banjska, Kosovo, the Russian official said that she is not surprised that "the Serbian people are trying to defend themselves", after what she called "Kurti's terrible words in Brussels, that the Serbs should pay and suffer ".
Zakharova criticized KFOR and EULEX with the claim that these peacekeeping forces in Kosovo have never done their job properly, while also attacking the mediation of the European Union in the dialogue.
