The driver was among the 21 victims of the bus accident in Mestre, Italy.
Italian media reports that the bus driver was a 40-year-old identified as Alberto Rizzotto, originally from Treviso. He was an employee of "Martini Bus srl" who had taken the vehicle to the company "La Linea", which had the contract for the transport of tourists from the campsite to Venice.
It is suspected that the cause of the accident may have been the loss of consciousness of the driver due to some illness. The driver was an expert with at least 6-7 years of experience in driving the bus. From the first evidence, it is known that the vehicle was not moving fast.
"Ship to Venice", was the last post of the 40-year-old driver on Facebook.
After the tragic news of the accident spread, in his post, people asked him if he was okay, but were left without an answer as the accident proved fatal for the driver.
His colleagues have expressed shock to the Italian media, describing him as an expert and experienced driver.
"He was an expert, he had been dealing with this profession for 7 years", say his shocked colleagues.
Please note that the bus with Ukrainian, German, French and Croatian tourists fell from a height of about 10 meters and ended up on the train tracks, where it burst into flames.
Venice authorities say that from the first findings at the scene, there are no signs of the bus stopping. Then, the vehicle hit the protective barrier and fell from a height of 10 meters ending upside down on the train tracks.
The flames that broke out spread quickly, probably because of the fuel. The Italian police say that the bus must have been a hybrid, that is, half electric.
