The investigation into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis is entering a new phase, as authorities are reconstructing the final minutes at the Karneadou Street clinic in Kolonaki, where he suffered cardiac arrest during a plasmapheresis procedure.
The focus is on the communications of doctor Ioanna Gaka, the testimonies of clinic employees and doubts about whether Mazonakis had taken sedatives before the procedure. A 28-year-old secretary has reported hearing the words "drunkenness", "defibrillator" and "adrenaline", while authorities are verifying whether these claims are related to the singer's condition.
The results of toxicological tests are expected to show whether there were tranquilizers or other substances in his body. Meanwhile, histological examinations will help clarify an ischemia found in the heart muscle and determine the possible time of damage.
Investigators are also examining possible complications of plasmapheresis, including thrombosis and embolism, as well as communications between Dr. Gaka and hypnotherapist Nasos Komianos.
The investigation also includes the telephone communications of two detained doctors, Ioanna Gaka and Elias Theodoropoulos. Their defense denies involvement and has presented a different version of events, while authorities have identified inconsistencies in the testimonies of clinic employees, particularly regarding schedules.
The conclusions of the toxicological and histological analyses are expected to be crucial in clarifying the circumstances of Mazonakis' death.
