The Israeli military says it has struck "a series of military targets" of the Lebanese Hezbollah group in recent hours, in response to "rocket fire into Israeli territory last night".
The targets hit include military complexes and operational infrastructure used by the group, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
" The IDF is ready for all scenarios in various sectors and will continue to act for the safety of Israeli citizens ," the army says.
Hezbollah is Lebanon's most powerful military force and has long-range missiles that can strike deep into Israeli territory. Since Hamas's attack on Israel two weeks ago, there has been a steady rise in tensions between the Israeli military and Hezbollah fighters.
The group, like Hamas, is considered a terrorist organization by the UK, US and other Western powers.
