US President Donald Trump said he was "disappointed" to hear that Kiev complained about being excluded from talks between the United States and Russia in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to end the war in Ukraine.

"I'm very disappointed, I hear they're upset because they don't have a place in the talks, but they had a place for three years and a long time before that," he told reporters at Mar-a-Lago when asked what he would say to Ukrainians who feel "betrayed."
Trump spoke for the first time since the US delegation began a working dialogue with Russia on Ukraine during talks in Riyadh on Tuesday.

He also said that Ukraine could have made a deal years ago and reiterated that it can end this war.

"I think I have the power to end this war," he added, after saying he was "much more confident" about a deal with Russia after Tuesday's talks in Saudi Arabia.
The US president said Zelensky should not have started the war and urged Ukrainians to go to the polls.

"We have a situation where we haven't had elections in Ukraine, because there's martial law where the leader in Ukraine, I mean, I hate to say this, but he's dropped to 4% popularity and where a country has been torn apart...

"If Ukraine wants a seat at the table, shouldn't the people say it's been a long time since there were elections?"
