An 11-year-old girl who survived the massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, was stained with her friend's blood and pretended to be dead, CNN reports.
Miah Cerrillo spoke about her horrific experience in the classroom where the mass shootings took place.
Miah said she and her classmates were watching the movie "Lilo and Stitch" in the classroom of Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia when teachers discovered there was an assailant in the building.
She described how everything was happening so fast, her teachers hid in the classroom and the attacker followed her. She told CNN that the assailant looked at one of her teachers and said "good night" and then shot her.
He opened fire, shooting another teacher and many of her peers. She said the bullets went near where the debris hit her in the shoulders and head. The girl later ended up in the hospital and came out with some injuries.
Miah and a friend managed to grab the dead teacher's cell phone and call an ambulance. She said she was afraid the attacker would return to the classroom again, so she was stained with the blood of the dead pretending to be dead. Miah said that by this point, police had not yet arrived.

Miah did not want to share this experience in front of the camera, but hopes her story will help prevent such a tragedy for other children.
Mass shootings this month in Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo, New York, have shocked the world. But everyday violence, like Jackson's murder, is an epidemic, researchers say.
Gun deaths among young people increased by almost 30% in 2020.
Gun violence kills more children than car accidents, drug overdoses and even cancer, say University of Michigan researchers.
