US President Donald Trump has sued The New York Times, four of its journalists and the publishing house Penguin Random House, seeking at least $15 billion in damages for defamation and damage to his reputation.

The lawsuit, filed in Florida District Court, relates to several newspaper articles and a book published by Penguin titled: “Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Swindled His Father’s Wealth and Created the Illusion of Success.” In the document, Trump claims that the publications contained malicious fabrications and distortions that have seriously damaged his personal reputation and business brand.

Trump's lawyers say these publications have had a direct negative impact on his financial position and public perception, especially ahead of the 2024 election.

Trump made the news of the lawsuit public on his Truth Social network, accusing the New York Times of "deliberate lies" not only about him, but also about his family and the political movements he represents, such as Make America Great Again and America First.

This is not the first time Trump has taken legal action against the media. Earlier this year, he sued both the Wall Street Journal and the CBS television network, accusing them of false reporting and fraudulent fabrications.
